Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

1. Information We Collect

When you use C2PA Checker, we process the image you upload solely for C2PA analysis. We do not collect personal information, require accounts, or use tracking cookies.

2. Image Processing

Uploaded images are processed in server memory only. Images are immediately deleted after analysis is complete. We do not store, archive, or share any uploaded images.

3. Data Storage

We may collect anonymous usage statistics (e.g., number of analyses performed) to improve our service. No personally identifiable information is stored.

4. Third-Party Services

We may use third-party analytics services that collect anonymous usage data. These services have their own privacy policies.

5. Chrome Extension — C2PA Checker

Our browser extension ("C2PA Checker — Verify Image Credentials") performs all C2PA verification entirely within your browser using WebAssembly. Here is how it handles your data:

  • No image uploads: Images are fetched and analyzed locally in your browser. No image data is ever transmitted to our servers or any third party.
  • Anonymous analytics only: After each check, we collect minimal anonymous metadata: verification verdict (e.g., "verified", "no_provenance"), the website domain, and a one-way hash of the image URL. This data cannot be used to identify you or reconstruct the image.
  • No personal data: We do not collect your name, email, browsing history, or any personally identifiable information.
  • No cookies or tracking: The extension does not set cookies, use fingerprinting, or track your browsing activity.
  • Local storage: The extension uses Chrome's local storage solely to keep a count of images checked. This data stays on your device.

Extension Permissions Explained

  • activeTab: Allows the extension to interact with the current tab when you right-click an image.
  • contextMenus: Adds the "Check C2PA Credentials" option to the right-click menu.
  • storage: Stores the total number of images checked (locally on your device only).
  • Host permissions: Required to fetch images from web pages for local C2PA verification.

6. Security

We implement appropriate technical measures to protect the security of your data during transmission and processing. All communications use HTTPS encryption.

7. Changes to This Policy
