❓ Frequently Asked Questions

No badge appears after checking an image

If no badge appears, the image may not contain C2PA metadata. Most images on the web currently do not have C2PA credentials embedded. Try testing with images from Adobe Creative Cloud, ChatGPT (DALL-E), or other C2PA-enabled tools.

Which image formats are supported?

JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, HEIC, and HEIF. The extension can analyze any image format that supports C2PA metadata embedding.

Is my data safe?

Yes. All C2PA verification runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. No image data is ever sent to any server. We only collect anonymous statistics (verification verdict and domain name).

The extension doesn't work on some websites

Some websites use Content Security Policy (CSP) headers that may prevent extensions from running. The extension also cannot access images on chrome:// pages or the Chrome Web Store itself.

What does "No C2PA Data" mean?

This means the image does not contain any C2PA content credentials. This doesn't mean the image is fake — it simply means the creator or platform did not embed C2PA metadata.

Can it detect all AI-generated images?

The extension detects AI tools that embed C2PA metadata (ChatGPT/DALL-E, Adobe Firefly, Google Imagen, etc.). AI images without C2PA metadata cannot be detected by this method. For broader AI image detection, visit c2pachecker.com.
