Frequently Asked Questions

What is C2PA and Content Credentials?

C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) is an open standard backed by Adobe, Microsoft, Google, BBC, Intel, and many more. Content Credentials is the consumer-facing name for C2PA — it provides tamper-evident metadata that traces who created digital content and how it was edited.

Can the extension detect ALL AI-generated images?

The extension specifically detects AI tools that embed C2PA metadata — including ChatGPT/DALL-E, Adobe Firefly, and Google Imagen. AI-generated images without C2PA data cannot be detected this way. For broader forensic AI detection, use our full C2PA Checker tool.

Is my browsing data or images sent anywhere?

No. All C2PA verification runs 100% locally in your browser using WebAssembly. Your images never leave your device. We only send anonymous analytics (verdict type and domain name) — no image data, no personal information.

Why does the extension need "all URLs" permission?

The host permission is required to fetch image binary data for C2PA verification. Since users may want to verify images on any website, the extension needs access to download image files from any domain. This access is only used when you explicitly right-click and choose to check credentials.

Which image formats are supported?

JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, HEIC, and HEIF — all image formats that support C2PA content credentials embedding.

What does "No C2PA Data" mean?

This means the image doesn't contain C2PA content credentials. It doesn't mean the image is fake — it simply means the creator or platform didn't embed C2PA metadata. Currently, only a small percentage of images on the web have C2PA data.
